Scientific Name: Harmonia conformis
Common Name: Common spotted ladybird
The common spotted ladybird is round in shape
and medium in size. They are bright orange in colour with black spots on each wing-cover.
The larvae are more elongated than adults with the rear of the body tapering.
They are grey or black in colour with two orange markings and black legs. Ladybird
adults and larvae are predatory and consume prey. They are important predators
of aphids, leafhoppers, thrips, mites, moth eggs and small larvae. Ladybird
eggs are generally yellow, spindle-shaped and laid standing on end in groups.
