Scientific Name: Creontiades dilutus
Common Name: Green mirid
Green mirids attack many agricultural crops including lucerne, cotton and pulses, as well as fruits and vegetables. Adults are light yellow-green in colour and approximately 7 mm long, with clear wings folded flat on their back. All stages have characteristically long antennae. Nymphs are pear-shaped, light green in colour and may be misidentified as aphid nymphs. Both adults and nymphs are highly mobile and will run or fly off quickly when disturbed. Green mirids feed preferentially on the growing points of plants which causes wilting, delayed maturity and decreased yields. They are most likely to be problematic during spring and summer in southern Australia.
