Common Name: Small pointed snail
Adult small pointed snails have a 10 mm long conical shell which may be fawn, grey or brown in colour. They are most abundant in areas with high rainfall and may attack pastures, lucerne, canola and tree crops such as olives. Seedlings are particularly vulnerable and may be eaten to ground level when the pest is present in high numbers. Shells can also be a contaminant of cereal grains and canola at harvest. This species over-summers in leaf litter, under stones and stumps, but can be found on posts and vegetation. They are hermaphrodites and typically enter crops in autumn.
